Hot news took on a literal meaning when the London Press Club summer party took place on 19 July with scorching temperatures setting new records.

Club members and guests defied the heat warnings and raised a glass at the party in the garden of the Royal Over-seas League in St James’s to celebrate a phenomenal year of media coverage.

This year the Press Club has reaffirmed its commitment to live events.

Club chair Doug Wills said: “It was marvellous that so many members beat the travel troubles and came along showing the determination you would expect. It was a superb evening and great to chat with everyone.

“Once again the Press Club sets the pace for face-to-face events.”

The party was a prelude to the Press Club’s annual awards lunch which takes place on Wednesday 26 October.
