The date of the London Press Club Awards Lunch 2025 has been announced. The Awards which are known as setting the agenda for others to follow will be held on Wednesday, 22 October at Stationers’ Hall near St Paul’s Cathedral.
It is also announced that the new chair of the judges will be Pete Clifton, who earlier this year retired after 10 years as Editor in Chief of PA Media. Pete said: “The London Press Club Awards are an absolute institution, widely respected across the media industry. It’s a tremendous honour to be asked to chair the judges – I’m looking forward to the deliberations, and the lunch!”
Doug Wills, chair of London Press Club, said: “We are delighted that Pete has agreed to take on this role. We are thrilled to once again having a chair of the judges who has enormous journalistic experience and the respect of the media industry.”
Pete follows Nick Ferrari who held the position of chair of the judges for four years.
This year’s awards will include categories reflecting changes in the industry. The new categories will be:
- Press Media Title of the Year
- Podcast of the Year
- Specialist journalist of the Year
- Showbiz Journalist of the Year
Remaining categories from previous years will be:
- Political Journalist of the Year in Association with Lord Salisbury
- Business journalist of theYear
- Sports Journalist of theYear
- Journalist of the Year
- Young Journalist of theYear (26 years and under)
- Broadcaster of the Year
- Scoop of the Year
The following long-running major awards will also be announced and presented on the day:
- Londoner of the Year
- Hugh Cudlipp Award for campaigning journalism
- Edgar Wallace Award for excellence in journalism
