More than 30 members of London Press Club paid homage to Fleet Street traditions by attending the annual Long Lunch event.
The downstairs bar specially reserved for The Long Lunch at the Ye Olde London pub on Ludgate Hill was a perfect place for stories to be told about Fleet Street life. Old and new friendships of former Fleet Street journalists were cemented over a pint or two.

Press Club chair Doug Wills made a presentation at the Long Lunch to Mary Swan who worked in Fleet Street in its golden years and is one of the longest serving members of the London Press Club. He paid tribute to Mary for being a stalwart of the Club who had supported countless Club events.
As a thank you from the Club, Mary was presented with a signed copy of Dylan Jones’s recently published memoir “These Foolish Things”. Evening Standard editor Dylan Jones recently spoke to Press Club members at a literary evening at L’Escargot in Soho. He gave an insight into how he began his career working at i-D, The Face and Arena, moved on to the Observer and Sunday Times before his award-wining record 22-year span editing GQ.
