At the Lecture, the Hugh Cudlipp Award for Student Journalism will be announced and presented. Sponsored by The Daily Mirror, the prize of £1,000 is awarded to a student who has made an outstanding contribution to journalism for an article, or series of articles, or video, exploring an issue of public interest or concern which, in the Cudlipp tradition, exemplifies lucid and graphic communication to a wide audience.
The judging panel is looking for work which shows an understanding of Cudlipp’s belief that journalists should inform and also potentially entertain about important subjects.
The shortlist for the 2024 Award is:

- Jacob Perkins (City)
- Niamh Robinson (PA Trainee, currently doing apprenticeship at Telegraph)
- Jamie Smith (Edinburgh Napier)
