{"id":22,"date":"2019-10-10T11:54:57","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T10:54:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/londonpressclub-co-uk.stackstaging.com\/?p=22"},"modified":"2019-12-22T10:54:02","modified_gmt":"2019-12-22T10:54:02","slug":"budding-journalists-question-the-experts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/londonpressclub.co.uk\/?p=22","title":{"rendered":"Budding journalists question the experts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than\n150 committed and enthusiastic budding journalists eager to join the media were\ngiven first-hand tips on entering the industry at an event organised by London\nPress Club and the Media Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The media\nstudents from London universities and journalism colleges took part in a Q&amp;A\nwith editors and senior training figures from across the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event\nincluded students being taken on tours of the newsrooms of the Evening\nStandard, the Independent, the Daily Mail, the Mail on Sunday and the i\nnewspaper during the evening at Northcliffe House in Kensington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">London\nPress Club chairman Doug Wills who welcomed the students and later thanked the\npanel said: \u201cIt was heartening for the industry that there is such an eagerness\nto join it, and wonderful to see the enthusiasm for journalism from the\nstudents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the\npanel answering the questions were: Sue Ryan, head of training for Mail\nnewspapers; Graham Dudman, deputy managing editor of News Associates; Mark\nWray, managing director of PA Training; Paul Charman, former head of journalism\nat London College of Communication and a director of London Press Club; Will\nGore, NCTJ head of partnerships and projects and former executive editor at the\nIndependent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Q&amp;A was chaired by Barney Jones, visiting Professor of Journalism at City University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.londonpressclub.co.uk\/media\/2019\/10\/10145745\/IMG_0138.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">https:\/\/cdn1.londonpressclub.co.uk\/media\/2019\/10\/10145745\/IMG_0138-600&#215;450.jpg <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 150 committed and enthusiastic budding journalists eager to join the media were given first-hand tips on entering the industry at an event organised by London Press Club and the Media Society.
