This year’s London Press Club Awards will be held at the Worshipful Company of Stationers’ and Newspaper Makers’ Hall near St Paul’s on May 1st.

The Awards will once again honour a household name who will receive the Londoner of the Year Award. Last year, Editors and senior executives from most of the national newspapers together with presenters and executives from TV and radio broadcasting attended. Print Journalist of the Year was Ian Hislop who made a rare public appearance in the same room as other Editors and a Royal!
Her Majesty the Queen was last year awarded Londoner of the Year in recognition of her special anniversary year. The Duke of York received the Award on her behalf. Previous recipients have included Lord Coe for successfully bringing together the London Olympics and Lord Lloyd-Webber for his services to the West End and the Arts in London schools.
The categories for the awards are: Daily Newspaper of the Year, Sunday Newspaper of the Year, Business Journalist of the Year, Scoop of the Year, Blog of the Year, Reviewer of the Year, Broadcast Journalist of the Year as well as the Edgar Wallace Award. A high-profile speaker will be addressing the lunch.
