Membership

Membership of the London Press Club is open to all those who work for or with the press and broadcast media. This includes national and regional journalists, newspaper and magazine editors, TV and radio broadcasters, cartoonists, photographers, PR consultants, cultural attachés of foreign embassies, press historians and academics, and syndication agencies. Full membership includes membership of the Adam Street Club; associate membership does not.

There are several reduced rate membership categories available to specific groups:

Journalist Member
Candidates must be actively engaged in journalistic or similar work as their principal professional activity and source of income. Please supply evidence of your eligibility – recent published articles, for example.

Group Member
This category is open to paid-up current members of a recognised and accepted professional group. Please supply evidence of current membership of relevant organisation. Groups currently recognised include:
  • The National Union of Journalists
  • Chartered Institute of Journalists
  • The Society of Editors
  • British Guild of Travel Writers
  • Women in Journalism
  • Society of Women Writers & Journalists
  • Publicity Club of London
  • British Cartoonists’ Association
  • The Media Society
  • British Society of Magazine Editors
  • Commonwealth Press Union
  • Foreign Press Association
  • Medical Journalists’ Association
  • Sports Journalists’ Association
  • Birmingham Press Club.
Overseas Member
Journalists and others not based in the UK may also apply to join at the special reduced Overseas membership rate.
Student Member
The London Press Club welcomes applications from full-time students of journalism and similar areas of interest. Candidates should be able to supply proof of their student status.
Retired Member
Former journalists and similar media figures may apply to join provided they have reached the UK State Pension Age and have retired from full-time employment.
Corporate Member
Corporate membership is open to any business, company or corporation with an interest in the press and broadcast media and includes ten Associate Memberships and other benefits.

Payment can be made by debit or credit card (please call the office with your card details), by cheque or by electronic bank transfer (please call the office for our account details).
